During W34, Norway exported 34,179MT of salmon, making it the largest export week of 2022 with a 7.5% WoW increase. These volumes are normally seen in December towards the end of the year in a normal production season. However, in recent years, September has been one of the busiest export months, primarily since Polish processing companies use the low prices during this period to fill up their freezer stocks, in order to later process and sell smoked salmon during high Christmas trade. Thus, this is an ideal time to buy for companies lacking frozen salmon HOG, fillets, portions and by-products as it will be available in large volumes at competitive prices.
