In November 2022, autumn tomatoes in Japan ripened well under the relatively warm temperature causing a large supply to the Tokyo market until W47. The market had 6-17% more domestic tomatoes compared to last year. Temperatures dropped in December 2022 and has been staying around 10ºC, which slowed down the pace of ripening for tomatoes. In W48, the Tokyo market had almost the same amount of tomatoes as in 2021. The price of tomatoes will gradually increase and trade around USD 2.55-2.91/kg during winter.
