Canned sardines remain the main exports for the Moroccan fisheries sector. As of September, Morocco exported 117,000 tonnes of canned sardines despite the crisis and circumstances such as shortage of fishing boats, staff, and contamination risk. This figure represents a 6% annual increase in volume mainly due to new markets demand in Mauritania, the US, and Ghana.
