According to the Monthly Bulletin of Agriculture and Fisheries of the National Statistics Institute (INE) for October in the almond trees, the fruits have finished their ripening, and harvesting is already taking place in several areas. In Trás-os-Montes the weather conditions at the time of flowering / avenging were adverse, reducing the load of almonds. Subsequently, and given that these orchards are mostly rainfed, the low values of precipitation and the prolonged periods of very high temperatures contributed to fruits with lower specific weight.

This situation also occurs in Alentejo, although with less impact, since more than 4/5 of all almond orchards in this region have been installed with irrigation systems. The fact that many of these are entering cruise production contributed decisively to the fact that the reduction in global productivity was not very significant (-5% compared to the previous campaign), positioning itself as the second most productive of the last two decades (just behind 2019).
