Beetle damage on sorghum has been observed in 4 potential districts in the North Showa Zone of Amhara Regional State of Ethiopia. As of W40, 1,021ha of sorghum crops have been affected by beetles, 966ha have been treated with traditional methods (swinging sorghum plants and smoking the area) and the remaining 55ha have been treated with chemicals. It is predicted that the beetle may spread to other areas, and all farmers and support professionals have been called on to prevent it from spreading to neighbouring districts.
