SPS Vietnam Office (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that the unit has just received Chile's notice on the establishment of phytosanitary requirements for fresh grapefruit in Vietnam effective from the date of October 14.
The representative from the Department of International Cooperation - Plant Protection Department said, when Chile announced the establishment of phytosanitary requirements for fruit, it opened the market for that fruit. Before that, Chile opened the door for Vietnamese dragon fruit and mango to export to this market.
But to enter the Chilean market, Vietnam's grapefruit must overcome technical barriers, phytosanitary requirements. Therefore, consignments exported to Chile must have a phytosanitary certificate issued by the competent phytosanitary agency of Vietnam and be irradiated 150 Gy to control fruit flies.
