Over the next decade, the EU is set to lower the use of pesticides and even ban some substances that have been used over the years. As a result, the growth rate of traditional milk production is projected to decrease by 0.5% per year until 2030. In contrast, organic milk production is expected to grow, providing economic values with higher prices and environmental benefits. Organic milk production accounted for 3.5% of entire EU milk production in 2019, but it is expected to increase to 8% by 2030. These are good news to the producers in organic milk-producing regions, namely Azores.
