Due to current typhoons that struck the country, papaya producers are now struggling to be able to meet demands as certain regions were affected and could not harvest top quality products. They are seeking government assistance to be able to salvage the products and be sold to local consumers for now. Export is not possible at the moment in some areas due to regulations on lockdown and closure of ports. According to the local government units, ports will be open again by end of August 2020.
