The Union of Industries of Poultry Products of the State of Paraná (Sindiavipar) is concerned about a possible shortage of corn in the State, which would directly impact poultry farms. The entity monitors the corn situation and has even proposed options for the Brazilian government to avoid the corn shortage in Brazil. The corn crop in Paraná was impacted by the weather and had a drop of 11.7%. The planting of the second crop was compromised by the delay in the soybean harvest. Paraná is a major producer and exporter of chicken and pork and a scenario with corn shortages would lead to a snowball effect across the food industry. As proposed solutions are the elimination of some taxes on grain imports, the implementation of credit lines which is advantageous for small producers, and the reduction of interest rates in the Safra Plan.
