Passionfruit production grows four fold in only two years

In the small town of Axarquía, a company is producing 45 MT of passionfruit a year. BioAlgarrobo, a company that started with only 4,000 of cultivated land, has been increasing its production of passionfruit since 2018.

The company wants to increase its production until 2021, where they will review the market to determine if they continue expanding the production of the fruit. Passionfruit is mainly used in juices and concentrates, and its consumption in Spain and Europe has increased in the past years, so there is an opportunity for growers in the country.
