In 2022, Japan is seeing a significant increase in imports of Peruvian mangoes. Japanese imports of Peruvian mangoes in Oct-22 increased by 150% YoY. Meanwhile, Mexican mangoes hold about 50% of the market share in Japan, and this trend is likely to continue. However, Thailand, which has been the second-largest supplier of mangoes in Japan, is expected to be overtaken by Peru. Data from the Japanese government reveals that Peruvian mangoes are imported at prices approximately 34% lower than Thai mangoes in 2022. With this cost advantage, it's possible that Peruvian mangoes could gain even more popularity in Japan and expand their market share in the country.
