Peruvian orange exports went worth US $ 8.3 million in 2019 with a +28% growth in volume on average each year. But during 2020 Peru has grown +57% and it is expected to reach US $ 13 million on export value by the end of the year. Until the end of October, orange exports totaled 25,713 mt, valued in US$ 11 million (+37% more in volume and 57% more in value).
With the spread of COVID-19, consumers have change their habits and now families prioritize the purchase of healthy products that are characterized by having vitamin C, which helps fight colds and strengthen the immune system. This has benefit orange sales since it is the main citrus fruit marketed in the world.
The main market destinations for Peruvian orange were the United Kingdom (62% share), Netherlands (25% share), Sweden (4% share) and the United States (3% share).
