Kenyan 2022/23 Pineapple Season Has Commenced

The 2022/23 Kenyan pineapple season has commenced with the season usually running from the end of July until April. The main variety of pineapple produced in Kenya is Smooth Cayenne which represents 8 out of every 10 pineapples produced in the country, but MD2 is rising in popularity due to its high brix/sweetness. In W33 Smooth Cayenne was available in large quantities because peak production season for this variety is in August. During W33 Smooth Cayenne was trading at USD 0.67/kg compared to the premium and less available MD2, which was trading at USD 0.97/kg.
