Agricultural production in Brazil decreased in the slaughter of cattle and chickens between April and June this year.

The slaughter of pigs was the only one that had growth, both in relation to the first three months of 2020, and compared to the second quarter of 2019. It increased by 5.9% from April to June 2020, in relation to the same period of 2019.

The slaughter of pork reached 12.07 million head from April to June this year. The accumulated weight of the carcasses totaled 1.10 million tons, an increase of 8.2% in relation to the second quarter of 2019 and of 3.2% in comparison with the previous quarter.

This is shown by the first results of animal production between April and June 2020 of the Quarterly Slaughter Surveys: first results - 2nd quarter of 2020, which the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released yesterday (13th).
