Portugal expected to become a main pear supplier in Europe

Italy and Spain are the main producers of pears in Europe (around 65%), but the Pear crop is expected to decrease by around 20% in 2021, due to widespread frost in March and April. In contrast, Pear production in Portugal (started August 9th) will increase around 40% versus last year. The orchards are in good condition and so are the products.
