A couple of decades ago, a wine from China was not popular in Portuagal. However, recently, a Portuguese company decided to invest on importing wines from China and mainly from Changyu, the 4th largest wine producer in the world. For now, that investment has only been made upon Premium Quality wines and only on Europe’s 10 most wanted Chinese wines. Some of those references can cost more than USD 100 per bottle. The most known in Europe is the Purple Air Comes from the East, 2016, a Cabernet Sauvignon that sells for almost USD 200. Portuguese producers are not worried with this matter as it will be a niche market and a curiosity item.
