High Demand for Korean Strawberries in Indonesia for the Christmas and New Year Festive Season

Due to Christmas and new year's festive seasons, demand for Korean strawberries of the seolhyang and geumsil varieties increased in the modern market in Indonesia. In W48 and W49 Korean premium strawberries sold for around USD 12/330-gram packaging in the retail market. Due to the niche market, the Korean strawberry import volume was low, influencing the high pricing. In 2021, the total import volume was 3,463.47 MT for fresh strawberries (HS Code 08101000) with POD Soekarno Hatta - Jakarta Airport from 4 main origins: Australia, South Korea, the US, and China. Meanwhile, in 2022, the total import of fresh strawberries with the same HS Code has been merely 2,552 MT until the end of October 2022, with all of them targeting the Jakarta market.
