The Spanish potato industry had robust demand during the peak of the pandemic. Many producers were expecting strong sales during the summer as well. However, demand has currently been lackluster. This is mainly due to the almost complete shutdown of the hospitality sector, which was expected to drive the demand during this period. Prices have collapsed to almost €0.10/kg and producers are now left with unsold products.
