Iran is reportedly experiencing an oversupply of potatoes this year and farmers are having difficulties to store their harvests.
Potato exporters have been pushing for the reduction of the export tariff of $100 per ton and the ministry of trade has taken a decision to have a zero-tariff on potato exports.
The country has produced 5.1 million tons of potatoes last year and the estimation is to exceed that level by the end of November this year.
The main export destinations for Iranian potato are Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iraq.
