To verify prevention measures to prevent the fungus called Fusarium Oxysporum Race 4 Tropical (FocR4T) from entering Guatemala, which affects banana and plantain production, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) together with the productive sector and the accompaniment of the International Regional Organization for Agricultural Health (OIRSA), visited the facilities of Puerto Barrios, one of the most important ports in Guatemala. This is an important port through which thousands of tons of various products enter the country, and that is why all biosecurity measures must be taken at the time of landing. The visit allowed awareness actions with the authorities and establish new mechanisms that allow greater effectiveness in controls to prevent the fungus from reaching Guatemalan territory.
