Increasing price trend of clam in Tien Giang province

Recently, the price of commercial clam in Tien Giang province has been increasing rapidly. The price of commercial clam ranges from 1.08 - 1.17 USD/kg and with an average yield of 15 tons/ha. Therefore, farmers who harvest clams at present can reach a total revenue of 16,000 - 17,300 USD per hectare. The price of clam increased sharply due to high market demand but limited supply, which caused by adverse weather conditions and the disease. In particular, this year, not only did the saline intrusion and drought affected the clam supply, but also the COVID pandemic has severely impaired the suppliers' ability to restock and replenish the supply.
