Price Trends Drop for Nigerian Sesame Seeds in W43 Due to Salmonella Issues

Nigerian sesame harvest continues in W43. Exporters offer Turkish buyers. The CIF Mersin price is around USD 1550 to USD 1570 per metric ton (mt). Price looks very competitive compared to other origins like Ethiopia, Sudan, and Egypt, which average USD 1850-1900 FOB at the origin country. Turkish sesame importers are not satisfied because of a salmonella issue with Nigerian sesame seeds. Due to this, Turkish buyers are afraid that Phytosanitary control will reject the cargo and send it back to its origin, and sesame buyers avoid purchasing Nigerian sesame seeds.
