On 25 January, truck drivers took part in protests last Tuesday and blocked the country's main highways to demand law modifications that affect their incomes and mobility. Protests lasted many hours and blocked main streets affecting many industries. Exporters of perishable goods, mainly melons, berries, and vegetables, said they were forced to cancel some exports and reschedule delivery of the goods to their clients. These protests affect Guatemala's exports and other critical economic sectors, so it is important to reach an agreement between local authorities and drivers to keep its economy going.
