The lands that in the Ciego del Ávila region will be used for potato cultivation have been affected by constant rains that have occurred throughout the month. The impact is visible since out of the 380 hectares that should be ready to date there are only 133 and if the rains continue, the sowing starting date, scheduled for the first half of November, will be delayed. The product is not only destined to be consumed as a fresh product but also for the industry (pre-fried potatoes).

In the 2019-2020 season, more than 20.4K tons were collected in the Ciego del Ávila territory, exceeding the previous period, but with lower yields due to fertilizer limitations, unfavorable weather conditions, and late planting.
