Revenue from Brazilian beef exports falls for the first time in 2020

Brazilian exports of fresh and processed beef increased by 2% in September compared to the same month of 2019, reaching the mark of 166,366 tons, data from the Brazilian Refrigerators Association (Abrafrigo). Even so, last month's foreign exchange revenue dropped 2% compared to 2019, reaching USD 668.7 million against USD 679.8 million. This is the first time since January 2020 that revenue falls compared to the same month of 2019.

Year-to-date, total beef exports reached 1.460 million tons, compared to 1.332 million tons until September 2019, a 10% growth. Revenue in the period reached US$ 6.1 billion, compared to US$ 5.1 billion in the same period in 2019, a 20% growth.

China remains the main buyer of Brazilian beef, being responsible alone for the purchase of 57.4% of the volume traded. The second-largest importer of Brazilian beef is Egypt, followed by Chile, Russia and the USA.
