Several agricultural industry associations across Canada have expressed concern over the government's proposed carbon tax increase. The tax is expected to reach $50/MT by 2022 and then increase by $15/MT each year, reaching $170/MT by 2030. The Canadian Cattlemen's Association, the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association, and the Grain Farmers of Ontario were amongst some of the groups that expressed displeasure, saying the tax will make producing goods uncompetitive and raise prices for consumers across Canada as well.
