Rwandan Avocado Exports Projected to Grow Exponentially by 2026

Rwanda could become the next international player in avocado exports with volumes projected at 16,000MT per year by 2026, from the current export volume of 2,765MT in the 2021/22 season. Agriculture is the backbone of Rwanda's economic activities with 72% of Rwanda's working population employed in farming and related activities. In addition, the increase in fruit and vegetable exports in Rwanda is mainly driven by avocados, green beans, bird-eye chillies, and habanero chillies.
