The Sado Basin is at risk of experiencing the greatest drought seen since the 1970s with dying trees and animals in terrible condition. The lack of water resources meant that it was necessary to suspend the supply of water to about 3700 hectares of cultivation, affecting 180 farms that were left without irrigation, in addition to leaving more than 200 families without income for two years.
