Salmon prices soared in the first 3-4 months of 2022 but have since been on a steady decline. In the past 60 days the price of Norwegian salmon has roughly decreased by USD 3/kg. The downward price trend is expected to continue in the late summer and into autumn. Generally, in late summer the supply of salmon increases and the demand is reduced as a result of holiday time in Europe, thus there is a fall in price. The decreasing price is making EU buyers careful when buying from Chile as they are afraid that by the time the container reaches the EU, the price has decreased and their profit margins will be eroded.
