Despite many efforts to source frozen salmon from various countries like Australia, New Zealand, and Chile, Indonesian traders struggle to fulfill the demands of the market, competing with China and the rest of the world to source from the same manufacturer, plus logistical problems in Australia and San Antonio port in Chile, adds to the rarity of product in the market. Salmon fillet jumps from USD 17.4/kg to almost USD 21.5/kg in retail price. While salmon HON jumps from USD 9/kg up to USD 11/kg. many traders also struggle to keep up with the timeline due to a surge of demand in the coming aid al Fitr holidays. Thus, creating depletion in supply nationwide.
