Scarcity of Large-Sized Avocados in the 2022 Spanish Hass Avocado Campaign

The 2022 Spanish Hass avocado campaign continues with a scarcity of large avocados and an abundance of small avocados. Most of the calibers available are between 20-24 in 4kg boxes. Thanks to the rain in W50, the main production areas in Spain slowed down the harvests, helping the market clean up excess stock and keep the price stable. Normally, the prices of the Spanish Hass avocado tend to fall in the month of December, reaching around USD 2.12/kg for sizes of 155g and higher. However, the price in W51 remains at USD 2.87/kg, as it has since the beginning of the campaign. Any opportunity for large sizes of any origin can be a great opportunity for Spanish avocado importers, as they are unable to fully fulfill consumer demand due to this shortage of big sizes.
