According to the Department of Agriculture, there is a shortage of garlic in the Philippines. Currently, the country only produces 8% of the total consumption for garlic. The government is eyeing to increase the hectarage, including the productivity per unit area of garlic to be able to double if not triple the domestic production. It is unlikely that such remedy would succeed, considering that there is still the covid-19 pandemic that the country is currently facing.
