Kingfish, or Scomberomorus sp., is a crucial ingredient in Indonesian fish cakes. It is highly sought after but rarely available in the local fish market within West Java due to the ongoing low catch and extreme weather. The latest Christmas and new year festive were putting kingfish in high demand and pushing the price up while supply has been low up to W1. In the local fish market in Rangkasbitung, Banten area, the selling price of kingfish has increased from the December 2022 price of USD 6.40/kg to USD 7.70/kg.
