Indonesian Coffee Bean Shortage Sparks 40% Price Surge for Local Robusta Beans

A reduction in the supply of coffee beans in the Indonesian local market has led to a significant price surge in W43. The retail cost of low-grade Robusta coffee beans from local production has surged by over 40% compared to the standard price. During W43, consumers in West Java, especially coffee roasters, buy low-quality Robusta coffee beans in the price range of USD 2.83 to 4.35 per kilogram (IDR 45,000 to 69,000/kg) from the previous price of the highest range of USD 1.57 to 1.89/kg (IDR 25,000 to 30,000/kg). Typically, Robusta low grade is used for blending by the local roasters and cafes, this grade of coffee beans has seen a substantial price increase.
