For more than a month now, there is a shortage of fish in local markets in Cameroon especially Mackerel- this fish is highly demanded by consumers and represents around 40% of fish imported in Cameroon. Importers explain that this is due to the drop in fishing activities due to COVID in exporting countries ( Mauritania, China, and Argentina). This shortage leads to an increase in the prices of other varieties of fish in the local market.
