Shortage of workers to pick summer fruits in Australia

Many stone fruit growers are facing the tough decision to not harvest some of their fruit this season as they scramble to secure enough workers to get their fresh produce picked in time. Every day, growers are facing to get 20 per cent behind their regular production levels, most of these for the shortage of workers available in summer time, one of the most busy times of the year for harvesting in Australia.

With some new cases of COVID-19 recently in South Australia (SA) there are again some doubts of the re-opening of states, being the stone fruit growers just a group of the total being affected by this shortage of workers in the land down under.
