The summer in Malaysia which would probably last until the end of August is expected to reduce shrimp harvest in the east coast region by up to 30%. This is because shrimp can not tolerate both too rain and not too heat. Although shrimp will decrease this month, it is expected the price of shrimp will not rise because there are still many kinds of seafood that can be caught during the summer and it would maintain the price for prawns at a moderate level.
