The national sowing progress for 12/16 is at 43.7% of the recently 950K projected hectares. This represents an additional 100K compared to the last projection (850K hectares) and is 26.6% higher than the previous cycle (750K hectares). The addition of 100K hectares is thanks to the improvement in water reserves that have increased Sorghum’s sowing expectations mainly in the North and West of the national agricultural area. This new estimated sowing area also exceeds the average of the last five seasons (790K hectares).
The progress for the past 2 weeks was 11.8% thus exhibiting a delay of 1.9% when making a y-o-y comparison. The greatest advances in planting work were found in the Center and North of the agricultural area. 65% of the 175K hectares intended to be planted in this cycle in the Central-North region of Santa Fe is already complete.
The Central-East zone of Entre Ríos exhibited an inter-weekly advance of 5%, while the lots sown at the beginning of the sowing window are currently going through vegetative stages.
In the western areas of Buenos Aires-North of La Pampa, the Salado Basin, and the Center of Buenos Aires, the improvement in the humidity of the fields has improved planting expectations.
