The challenging weather conditions, combined with the low season period and increased global demand, have led to a decrease in pineapple yields in Costa Rica, impacting the country's ability to meet demand. Despite this, new bilateral agreements have helped strengthen the positioning of Costa Rican fresh products, leading to increased competition among buyers. However, logistical bottlenecks in the Red Sea/Suez channel are hindering the ability of alternative supply countries to respond quickly to market demand. As a result, more buyers are exploring alternatives, and new supply countries are emerging to meet the demand for pineapples.
