South Africa's stone fruit growers and exporters are looking forward to a significantly improved 2022/23 season after a very disappointing 2021/22 season, which turned out to be a disaster at farm level due to trade and logistical issues despite good crop production. Supply is expected to be much more stable, reliable, and on time given that logistical bottlenecks have been addressed, which will lead to the South African stone fruit arriving in great condition. For the 2022/23 season, initial stone fruit export predictions for plums and peaches will increase by 4% to 86,000MT and 6,550MT, respectively, followed by a 15% increase in nectarines exports at 23,650MT and a 9% increase for apricots at 3,085MT.
