Tomato and pepper growers in Limpopo and North West provinces have been experiencing widespread damage caused by frost in recent weeks. This has caused foliage loss and subsequent sunburn damage to remaining weakened crops. Ultimately resulting in a 50% loss in expected tomato harvest and 95% loss in peppers according to Thinus Venter of Janlouis Boerdery. The effect of the frost will only be felt by the market, 2 to 4 weeks later.
