South Africa’s Macadamia Nut Production to Increase 15% In 2022

About 93% of South Africa’s macadamia nuts are exported as either nut-in-shell (NIS) or shelled. The 2021 final crop was 53,585MT of in-shell macadamias, which is an increase of 4,660MT compared to 2020 crop production. The 2022 crop projection is 61,288MT which is 14.9% higher than 2021 with an added 7,968MT dry nut-in-shell. The increased production is the result of young orchards coming into production or entering their peak productive years.
