South Korea Government to Support Modern Irrigation Farming in Tanzania

The South Korean government has set aside USD 18M to support irrigation in the agricultural sector in Tanzania and provide opportunities for farmers to cultivate modern agriculture in parallel with providing education to professionals and providing experience to professionals and building their collaborations together with the Irrigation infrastructure project. The development of the Irrigation project will help Zanzibar to take the step of Rice Production and reach self-sufficiency in food and reduce the import of rice from foreign countries. Tanzania's government has announced the import of 90K MT of rice to curb the deficit and price increase.
