South Korea has suspended all the cherry imports from Turkey until further notice. The cherry export season from Turkey to South Korea had just started last week and the first shipment arrived last week to South Korea. However, upon inspection, the Mediterranean fruit fly was discovered in the first shipment and the South Korean authorities put cherry imports on hold in order to further analyze the situation. Today the authorities have informed that they have stopped all the cherries from Turkey until further notice. The news is met with disappointment by the Turkish cherry exporters.
