In September 2021, the Government of Ghana introduced an export ban on soybeans and only issued permits to a handful of exporters to protect the domestic poultry industry from increasing soy prices related to exporter demand and safeguard the country's food security needs. Farmgate prices in W13 have remained at USD 410/MT compared to USD 511/MT in the previous year.
