Spanish citrus industry is at its worse scenario as Spanish citrus growers are calling urgently for subsidies and help to the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture. The oversupply of imports to the EU from third countries is lowering citrus prices to which Spanish citrus suppliers are not able to supply the products. Spanish growers are not only facing lower prices from competitors but also higher costs of production, for instance, raw materials such as wood, cartons have highly increased in Spain, leading to higher costs but lower selling price, which is unreachable for Spanish citrus growers.
