Colombian weather with heavy rains and the "La Niña Phenomenon" affected sugar mills because of decreased sugar cane supply for sugar production. Fortunately, the weather in Colombia is improving, and rains are subsiding in the Valley del Cauca region. The improved weather allows sugar mills to increase their harvest and recover the delayed production caused by the unfavorable weather. Production is expected to stabilize to "normal" yields per hectare in the upcoming months. If the weather keeps improving, the Colombian sugar industry will achieve the previously forecasted production of 2.22M mt and exports of 600-700K mt.
