In 2023, the fresh durian exports and its products amounted to 1.09 million tons, reflecting a year-on-year (YoY) volume increase of 19.36% from the 916.8 thousand tons recorded in 2022. Concurrently, the export value of fresh durian reached USD 14.6 million, marking a significant year-on-year growth of 30.52% from the previous year's USD 3.5 million. The surge is primarily attributed to a growing demand, particularly in the Chinese market, which accounts for over 95% of the total durian exports.
The resolution of the COVID-19 situation allowed China to relax measures, including the cancellation of the Zero-COVID protocol by the end of 2022. This normalization facilitated a return to regular exporting activities. Additionally, improvements in logistics systems contributed to more efficient and rapid export processes, contributing to the overall expansion of durian exports.
