In 2023, the fresh longans exports and related products reached a total volume of 762 thousand tons, marking a 19.62% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to the 2022 volume of 642.1 thousand tons. This surge in volume corresponded to a notable increase in value, reaching USD 876 million. This monetary figure marked an 18.67% YoY rise from the USD 738 million recorded in 2022.

Throughout 2023, Thailand experienced an increase in the export of out-of-season longans from the Eastern region, particularly to meet the continuous demand from the Chinese markets, especially during the Chinese New Year festival and the New Year period. The improved quality of crops contributed to the favorable export scenario, contrasting with the beginning of 2023 when quality issues, such as small-sized longan fruit due to drought impact, affected the export of fresh longans from Thailand.
