Sunflower Seed Imports in Turkey Not Profitable but Prices Are Expected to Rise

The W41 price of Turkish origin sunflower seeds (190-200 pieces/100 gram) is around USD 1.70/kg + VAT (TL 31-32 + VAT) in the domestic market. The same quantity/100 gram Type 361 sunflower seed is being offered from China for around USD 1.85/kg CIF Mersin Port by Chinese exporters. Currently, imported sunflower seeds do not appear profitable for sunflower seed packers/roasters, but prices in the domestic market are expected to reach USD 2.15/kg + VAT (TL 40 + VAT), which will make sunflower seed imports profitable due to increased margins.
